November 2007: Heather Forcier

It was the beauty of my home state of Vermont that inspired me to take up nature photography. Once I picked up the camera I found it difficult to stop; some of my moments in the field have been among the best of my life. Since taking up photography in 2000 I have been fortunate to travel all over North America, not only capturing images but experiencing places and seeing wildlife I will never forget.

About Heather

Heather Forcier was captivated by nature long before she began photographing it. A native Vermonter, she grew up surrounded by distinct, vibrant seasons and cherished sightings of wildlife. Her desire to acquire an SLR camera was realized in mid-2000 while working in the photo industry for the manufacturer of PocketWizard radio slaves.

Having no previous experience or instruction in photography, she began photographing voraciously, learning from mistakes. About a year later Heather made the transition from film to digital and as her lessons in the field continued, she benefited from the accelerated learning atmosphere of internet photography sites and from the instant feedback of digital. For three years she assisted nature photography workshops throughout North America and began selling her photos.

Today, Heather is co-founder of the nature photography website, www.NatureScapes.Net and her photo credits include National Geographic Traveler magazine, the ABA’s Birding magazine, ABA’s North American Birds magazine, WildBird magazine, Birder’s World magazine, National Audubon Society’s Audubon Magazine, Bird Watcher’s Digest, The New York Times, The Washington Post, on CNN Headline News (television), CNN.com, MSNBC.com, and AOL news online. Her photos have been chosen for the 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010 Vermont State Duck Stamps. To see more of Heather’s work, please visit her website at www.hforcier.com.
